In a world and nation where political correctness, secularism and persecuting Christians continues to grow rapidly, let us not forget that the manual for life, the Holy Bible, already told us to expect this:
Then they will hand you over to persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of my name. Matthew 24:9
For far too many years of my natural life, I practice either no real faith or went about being a “C & E” (Christmas and Easter only) Catholic.
But in the last 15 or so years, I’ve been blessed to go through trials that have led me to truly see the “light”.
Because it says in Mark 13:32, ““But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father”, I don’t spend anytime dwelling if these are the “End Times” or not; But I do know one thing – Catholics and Protestants alike, need to come together now more than ever!
I call upon all Christians to focus on the great majority of teachings and faith that we share, versus the rather small minority of differences that some make mountains out of molehills from.
Great Britain and the United States have clear cultural and other differences; Yet they have instead focus on the vast majority of common ground to be great allies for hundreds of years. Catholics and Protestants must not waste another moment focusing on what separates us, but instead come together on the overwhelming of commonality that makes us different from the rest of the human race.
I refuse to listen to a few misguided voices that say that’s not possible. For over a dozen years, I’ve had no better relationship with any human being than George McGovern. Both George and I concurred that since God won’t have any “denominational” tags in Heaven, we won’t bother with any down here on Earth. Any religion sector tags others may have put on us, we long ago discarded for the good of Jesus – PERIOD!
I pray we take the terrible tragedy in Oregon, and all those where being Christian has been any part of the reason such evil occurred, and remember as Christians that no matter what trial or seemingly inexplicable tragedy takes place, we remember this teaching:
“We know that all things work for good for those who love God,* who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
Four of the greatest Christian men I’ve been blessed to know. Left to Right (All former NY Giants) Lee Rouson, David Tyree, Keith Elias, PG and George McGovern. It wasn’t by size despite picture appearing that way -lol
