Retiring and New Jersey Don’t Mix

I moved into a 55 and over community in 2009. I did so because I was thrust into having to care for my then 88 year-old mom. We needed a home with a first floor bedroom and they just don’t make smaller homes that way anymore except in 55 and over communities. Mom has since moved into an assisted living facility. While I enjoy the relative peace and quiet of our community, I wonder if New Jersey will be the state my body finally says good-bye in.

The thought of not living out my life with the friends I now have is the single biggest factor that keeps me wanting to believe I shall remain here. The cost of living is the biggest negative.
